Hmmmm, what do you think about having your name (or other admins) displayed as a Page Owner of your Facebook business fan page? And having your name link directly to your personal profile on Facebook? (See left column in the screen shot below.)
I’m not sure how many people will like this new feature. In the past, one of the questions I’ve been asked most frequently is, “will people know I’m the one that created my Facebook fan page?” Most people that asked me that question did Not want to be identified as the page owner or page admin on their fan page…they wanted to remain anonymous…and keep their business activities and their personal activities on Facebook completely separate from one another!
What do you think about this new feature? Have you or will you list yourself as the Page Owner of your Facebook fan page? Let me know in the comments below.
Update July 2011:
If you want a business page admin to be displayed in the left column of your business page, go to Edit Page > click Featured > click Add Featured Page Owners.
Your Facebook Informant,
Kimberly

I’m not sure what to think. I definitely like to keep my professional life and my personal life separate on Facebook (and in general), but I’m not sure it’s a bad thing to be associated with your business. I guess it just forces us to use a more appropriate personal Facebook profile pictures as well as more diligent with our privacy settings so that Fans of our business pages can’t see all of our personal stuff.
Hi Meg – Thanks for posting your thoughts! I was shocked when I saw this new feature. I’ve never tried to hide on my fan page but I really don’t want to advertise my personal profile either. Glad it’s optional. OBTW, thanks for the tag on Facebook. – Kimberly
Hi Kimberly
Hope you are well?
I agree, not one of my favourite new features, however for some there may be benefits, especially for sole traders or people who ARE the business.
I am glad it is optional, I don’t want my picture on my clients pages and prefer to keep business and personal profiles separate.
I will wait and see how may now adopt it!
Toni
Hi Toni – Thanks for stopping by! I agree, I am very glad it is an “optional” feature. Some of the other new features are really cool though. I especially like the fan page notifications! Take care, Kimberly
Defenitly keep personal and business separate.
