Hi Louise - Facebook does not automatically create any links from your business fan page to your personal page. However, if you click "like" under one of the posts on your fan page (and you are using Facebook as yourself, not your fan page), fans will see "Louise M......" likes this".

Be sure to adjust the privacy settings for your personal page (under the Account menu in the upper right hand corner of your Facebook screen) if you want to restrict who can see info on your personal page.

I want to keep my personal page private. I want my fan page to be public. Can I do this? (I do not want people to be able to get to my personal page from my fan page).

Since I don't know how you did your account(s) set-up, I'm afraid I can't directly answer your question. Try reading this new blog I just posted http://www.howtousefacebookforbusiness.com/2010/06/unlink-facebook-fan-page-from-personal-profile-remove-fan-page-creator/ to see if it helps you. - Kimberly

I ran into this today as well- this post was very helpful, however, even after I made my personal profile an Admin of my page, Facebook won't let me deactivate the other profile connected to my business page. It keeps saying I need to transfer ownership (which I thought I did, when I created my personal profile as Admin)- any thoughts?

Yep, just ran into this shit today while trying to figure out how to bypass my personal page. This is crazy. FB needs to change the whole mechanics to make things more fluid. This shit makes me pouty~!lol Destroyed my business model and wasted my time. But alas, I will take the long route, thx kim

Dave- you are a hero. I have been setting up Fan Pages for a number of clients and was concerned about the "what if" Facebook deactivated my account for any number of dumb reasons (many posts on that subject) or worse yet, God forbid, I died and my family simply deactivated or deleted my account due to that tragedy.

I have an ethical responsibility to my clients that my death and deleted personal account would not cause them business disruption.

Of course I have made each of them (they are small business owners) an admin of their page. But as has been discussed ad nauseum on the web, if I am the creator, my personal account is "glued" to their Fan Page.

Thanks again for testing this.

Hi Inigo - When you click the "Share" button in Facebook, anything that you share will automatically be posted to your Personal Profile. You do NOT have a choice. There is not currently a way to use the share feature and post to your fan page. You need to go to your fan page and type a status update and attach a link to the video or website or whatever you want your fans to see. This is the long way, and yes it does suck, but it is the only way to do it at this time.
