Facebook Application Allows Fan Pages To Post To Twitter

by Kimberly Yow on September 16, 2009

Did you know that Facebook has a new Twitter application which allows Fan Page Administrators to update Twitter directly from their Facebook Fan Pages?  The application allows you to determine which type of updates you want to “automatically” post to Twitter:  status updates, links, photos, notes and events or all of the them.   See example set-up screen shown below:

Linking Facebook to Twitter

Linking Facebook to Twitter

You’ll see from the screen shot that it shows which Twitter account your Fan Page is linked to and gives you options that say Edit Settings and Unlink From Twitter.  If you have multiple Fan Pages, you can link them to the same Twitter account or link them to separate Twitter accounts.

I already have this application set-up for my Fan Pages and it makes it very easy to post  additional tweets without logging into Twitter.  If you are importing a blog into Facebook through the Notes application, you will NOT want to post Notes to Twitter if you are also importing your blog into Twitter.  This would result in duplicate tweets.

This Facebook application can be accessed at http://www.facebook.com/twitter.

Another time saver…thank you Facebook!

Hi Paul – This application will not post comments that are written by your fans or status updates that fans post on your wall. It will only post activity that YOU originate on your Fan Page. I have successfully used this application to post my status updates, events and notes (does not work for a blog imported into your notes section) to my Twitter account but have not tried it with photos. I also noticed that it does not work if you are using something like Hootsuite to post messages to your Fan Page. I hope this helps! – Kimberly

I manage the Wisconsinmade.com FB page. We have a business account and no personal account. I followed the link you provided to get the app to link the Wisconsinmade.com FB page to our Wisconsinmade Twitter account, but Fb said I must first create a profile. I know if I do this, then our business account will become a personal account and we definitely do not want to do this. Is there any other way to get our FB wall postings to feed into Twitter or the other way around?

Hi Cristie – You can use “Selective Tweets” to post some of your tweets to either your Facebook profile or your Fan Page. See more info here: http://www.facebook.com/selectivetwitter?v=info. – Kimberly
