I have tried to tag photos on my profile to fan and business pages, but often a link fails to form. That is frustrating when you want spread the word about something you like that would benefit from the exposure.

I don't get it.

Thanks for the tip Andrea!

To anyone reading this comment from Andrea: I have not tested Andrea's recommended solutions because my privacy settings have always been set to "everyone". I suggest you try her 2nd solution...changing the setting for a specific status update...and see what happens. - Kimberly

Kimberly,
I've encountered Debra's and Aubrey's problem with tagging. I tagged my place of work in a personal post, but it didn't appear on my place of work's Wall. But when I tag other business', they appear on their Wall's respectively.

I've reviewed all my settings. It feels like I'm missing something.

It is important to note that fan pages are fully visible to the public and indexable by search engines. As such, Fan page tags only appear on a fan page wall if a user has opted to have their profile status updates viewable by "everyone".

If your status updates / wall posts are set in your Privacy Settings as being only visible by "Friends" or "Friends of Friends", then your tagged status will NOT post to the fan page wall, because those wall posts are for "Everyone."

So, there are 2 solutions here:
(1) Change the overall Privacy Settings of your Wall Posts to "Everyone"
(2) Change the security setting for that particular post. (This is done by clicking on the little padlock symbol underneath wall post box).

Hope this helps...

Your question: "has anyone been successful on seeing tagged fan pages posts on the fan page wall?"

Answer: Yes. On August 6th, my fan page was tagged from another fan page and I only knew that it happened because the tagged message appeared on my fan page wall. I have also seen the tagging feature work in the past. HOWEVER, I have also seen it not work...it appears to be sporadic...and a Facebook issue.

At this time, Facebook does not have a feature for notifying fan page administrators when a new status update is posted to the fan page wall. "Most of the time" you will be notified when someone comments on a status update if you previously "liked" that specific status update however this "trick" doesn't always work.

For now, you have to regularly monitor fan pages that you administer.

Hi, great article, quick question.

Is there a way to received email notifications when somebody posts on your wall of a page/group that you administer? I did not create the page but have admin rights, and a competitor just wrote on our wall and essentially advertized there product for a few hours while I didnt know it was there.

Had I gotten an email notification about the new post it would have been deleted immediately.

Is there any way to monitor wall posts without having to constantly monitor FB??

Thank you in advance for the response, this is critical to our fledgeling business and FB movement.

Best,

Ben

Hi,

I just want to add and I don't think I'm seeing when fans tag my fan page, either. It would be so useful to know when that happened, if indeed it ever did.

Thanks!

Hi George - I totally agree that it would be very useful to be able to tag a fan. Hopefully Facebook will add that feature some day!

I believe that tagging is good for fan page owners. If you have friends, family or fans that tag your fan page from their personal profile...it gives your fan page more exposure by making it visible to that person's friends. I regularly promote my friend's content or fan page and they reciprocate when they see a post of mine that they like. It's a great way to help each other. :)
